Bracelets Size Chart: How to Find the Perfect Bracelet Size
Length of wrist is measured using a flexible tape measure or using a piece of paper and then the size is rounded up by 1.5 – 2 cm for ease of fit. There are standard bracelet sizes, which include small (6.5 inches), medium (7 inches) and large (8 inches). Bangles are tight, chain bracelets are loose.
A bracelet will feel uncomfortable to wear if it’s too tight. A loose one runs the risk of slipping at all times, and possibly even coming out. This bracelets size chart explains how to measure bracelet size at home, bracelet sizes and what to expect from the different types of bracelets (bangle, chain bracelet and cuff).
How to Measure Your Wrist Size at Home
All bracelet size guides begin with an accurate wrist size. A flexible fabric tape measure or a regular strip of paper and ruler will be required.
Using a tape measure: Wrap around the narrowest part of your wrist, below the wrist bone. Pull tight, but not too tight, and determine where the end meets the tape.
If there is no tape measure: Take a piece of paper and wrap it around that same spot. Indicate the end and then measure level using ruler.
Most adult wrists are 6 to 7.5 inches (15-19 cm). To this add a sizing allowance and you will have the comfortable bracelet length.

The sizing allowance you add to your wrist measurement depends on the style of bracelet and the fit you prefer.

Standard Bracelet Sizes By Fit Type:
Snug fit: Add 0.5–1 cm to wrist measurement (for bangles)
Comfortable fit: Add 1.5–2 cm to wrist measurement (chain and tennis bracelets)
Loose or stacked fit: Add 2.5-3cm to wrist measurement (for layered bracelet styles)
Most of the ready to wear bracelets come in small size (6.5 inches), medium size (7 inches) and large size (7.5-8 inches). Standard is 7 inches and this will fit most adult wrists just enough for some freedom of movement.
Bracelet Fit by Style
A universal chart doesn’t take into consideration the different kinds of bracelets and how they wear on your wrist. A bracelet size guide by style is far more useful.
Tennis Bracelets and Chain Bracelets
Tennis bracelets and chain styles require room to move about so as not to fall over the hand. Add 1.5-2 cm to your wrist size. A good bracelet should lie flat and have a slight give with the hand up. If it's too tight, it will put pressure on the setting; if too loose, the clasp will always turn to the underside.
Bangles
Bangles are rigid so they have to be slipped over the hand to the wrist rather than fastened around it. For regular round bangles, measure at the fattest part of your hand with the fingers held together and the thumb tucked in. This is the minimum size of the diameter through which the bangle needs to pass. Bangle sizes are typically sold by the inside diameter. It has an internal diameter of 65mm and will fit most wrists, being the equivalent of a flexible 7 inch bracelet.
Cuffs
Cuffs are more flexible than bangles as the opening can be adjusted easily. Most average wrists will fit a 55-60mm internal diameter.
Beaded and Stretch Bracelets
Stretch bracelets are sized directly to the wrist size. 7 inch stretch bracelet fits 6.5-7.5 inch wrist comfortably. For a tighter fit, size down 1. For a stacked look, size up 0.5.

Bracelet Length for Gifts
The safest choice in gifts is a 7-inch bracelet for women and 7.5-8 inches for men. For bangles, 65mm internal diameter fits most adult women and 70mm diameter fits most men. The chain bracelets or tennis bracelets with a length of 7 to 7 1/2 inches are the shortest bracelets to fix; it's easy to add or remove a link from such bracelets.
How to Get an Accurate Wrist Measurement for Someone Else
Examine their existing bracelets and use a ruler to complete tasks. Put a ribbon around their wrist while they sleep. Ask a family member who may know their size. Most jewellers can also work from a photograph of the wrist with a reference object of known size.
